What to Wear Wednesday!

It's another day for the Senior girls. Though, with the right family, this would be a great set for family photos! When I talk to clients, we always discuss ways to get that POP of color into the photos. I emphasize shoes, because great colors with jeans are a total wow factor. But, I really don't discuss ways to bring color into what you have. If you start with a couple of neutral basics, like this great dress in black and white, then you can add almost any colors to turn ho-hum into va-voom! I brought the yellow accents into this, but think about it...it could have been red or hot pink, lime green or a bold violet! The possibilities are limited by your imagination. If we look beyond the senior, this would be great for inspiration for your family photos! Mom could wear a black and white striped top and black pants with a yellow cardigan and yellow flats. Dad could wear black dress slacks with a white shirt. Little Susie could wear a yellow dress with black trim and cute little black shoes. Little Johnny would look sharp in black pants, a yellow polo and black shoes. Can't you picture it? It would be a great family clothing set up!
I think I may have to work on a family set for next week. Virtual shopping is so fun!

Cupcake Wars

Anyone that knows me knows that I love to cook. And I will cook anything that can't walk trot skip crawl out of the fridge or pantry on its own. What I enjoy most, though, is baking. I love the fragrance that floats out of the kitchen. It's like surrounding the house in a hug.

I also embrace the moments when I come across amazing recipes that I can tweak and make my own. So, to combine baking and tweaking (beaking? twaking?) for any given afternoon, well...that's my own little heaven!

March will be the month of Cupcake Wars! I've pulled 9 recipes from around the net from some wonderful blogs and sites. I will twake (ok, I think I like that word) them to personalize them for my taste, but use the found recipes as the base.

And then, I shall work out for all of April, May and June. And July.

Anyway, here are the 9 that I've chosen for March. If you make any, be sure to share your review and let me know if you did any twaking of your own. Yes...I am liking that word more and more!

1) Orange and Cranberry Cupcakes with Orange Frosting from Eat Good 4 Life. I love orange cranberry scones, so I figure these have to be even better. They have frosting and let's face the facts...frosting on anything makes it better! I know you agree.

2) Banana Split Cupcakes from Annie's Eats. I don't actually care how these taste. They look so darned cute that I almost can't stand it! And yet, I don't think that there will be any problem with these being gobbled up in no time.

3) Maple Bacon Cupcakes from Oprah Magazine. They are Gayle King's favorite, so they must be good, right? I wonder if these would qualify as cupcakes for breakfast?

4) Lemon Drop Cupcakes from Better Homes & Gardens. Lemony goodness made better because the cupcakes have *wait for it* crushed Lemon Drops candies in it. *gasp* I think this would be such a refreshing summer recipe!

5) Pink Champagne Cupcakes from the Betty Crocker Site. I know, I know...it's a boxed cake. I haven't decided yet if I will make it from the box or for real. But, I love the idea of using champagne for the liquid! Yummy, bubbly, adult cupcakes!

6) Chocolate Cupcakes with Nutella filling and Nutella Butter Cream Frosting from My Baking Addiction. If I mention Nutella another 10 times in this post, maybe Nutella will send a million dollar check. Or sponsor a give away. Just in case...Nutella!

7) Irish Cream Cupcakes with Baily's Buttercream Frosting from The Recipe Girl. Bet you can't guess what date I'll make these! Oh yeaaaaaa! These will be baked on the 16th of March so that I can share them on St. Patrick's Day!

8) Cinnamon Cupcakes from Annie's Eats. As much as I love cinnamon, I wonder if these will be too cinnamony or if they'll be more like a spice cake. Hmmmm, maybe when I twake this recipe, I will actually make it more spicey! Potential in the making.

9) Boston Cream Pie Cupcakes from Amanda's Cookin'. Mmmmm, creamy filling, cake, chocolate on top. Major weakness for me!
